The DOT was formed in April 1967 and consists of several administrations representing the various transportation modes. The Department serves as the focal point in the federal government for the coordinated National Transportation Policy. The Federal hazardous materials transportation law (49 U.S.C. § 5101 et seq.), is the basic statute regulating the transportation of hazardous materials (hazmat) in the United States. This law requires the training of ALL hazmat employees. The purpose is to increase a hazmat employee’s safety awareness and be an essential element in reducing hazmat incidents. The Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMR) include training requirements in several sections of Title 49 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR)
It is a fundamental imperative that all employees involved in handling and transporting hazardous materials understand the dangers and the techniques to mitigate them, and how to handle emergency situations. Our training programs are comprehensive and to the point, and we use case studies and illustrations to convey the sense of urgency needed for safe and effective hazardous materials transportation.
